Job Description:
East Stroudsburg University is hiring a Grant & Compliance
Accountant! Located in the beautiful Pocono Mountains of
Pennsylvania, ESU's proximity to New York City and Philadelphia
provides convenient access to internships, careers and social
activities. Just minutes from campus are the country's largest
water parks, scenic Delaware Water Gap Recreation Area, Appalachian
Trail, and other opportunities for recreational fun. As the Grant &
Compliance Accountant, you will need to be comfortable diligently
completing grant accounting functions in relation to federal,
state, local, and private funds for ESU. You will be an active
member of the Business Office team reporting to the Director of
Budget & Special Accounting to analyze all grant expenditures to
ensure compliance with applicable state and federal requirements.
You will work closely with the Office of Sponsored Projects and
Research and Grant Principal Investigators. You will thrive in this
role if you like combining your accounting background and excellent
communication skills all while actively developing and implementing
financial policies or procedures for grants and contract transfers.
To be successful in this role, you must be detail oriented, a
problem-solver, and have superb collaboration skills. Your normal
hours will be Monday to Friday 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, but you may have
to flex your schedule from time to time based on the needs of the
business to be a true Grant & Compliance Accountant. When our team

operations humming. What Will I Do At ESU? (AKA Essential Duties)
Accurately apply the principles of accounting in preparing and
managing accounting functions related to federal, state, local, and
private funded grants of East Stroudsburg University including
passthroughs from affiliates. Performs grant-related pre- and
post-award functions, including but not limited to budget and
expense monitoring and analysis, periodic invoicing, financial
reporting, forecasting, reconciliations, and budget revisions.
Update and maintain reports/forms that are in compliance with
regulations by funding agencies. Works with fiscal contacts at
funding source for problem resolution and information gathering and
reporting. Supports the Office of Sponsored Projects and Research
in training of principal investigators and administrators; assesses
needs and resolves issues of the principal investigator related to
grants accounting; performs analysis and support for projects.
Maintains regular communications with principal investigators.
Prepares relevant schedules for annual audited financial statements
and A133 (federal programs). Assists the Director of Budget &
Special Accounting and Controller with the development and
implementation of financial policies and procedures for grants and
contracts transfers, spend downs and closeouts to ensure compliance
with all applicable funding agency guidelines and regulations.
Performs required grant closeout functions including but not
limited to reconciliations, financial status reports, final
invoices, purchase orders, zeroing out budgets, and final reporting
and audits. Serves as liaison with the Office of Sponsored programs
and Research to ensure effective coordination and service from
pre-award through post-award accounting and internal and external
reporting and compliance. Prepares monthly reconciliation of budget
and fund balances and financial reports as required. What We're
Looking For (AKA Qualifications) Bachelor's degree in Accounting or
CPA required, with a masters preferred. Minimum of three year's
experience in accounting, preferably full general ledger
preparation. Strong oral and written communication skills. The
ability to build and maintain effective working relationships
within the campus community and external funders. Ability to work
collaboratively with everyone within the campus community. Strong
attention to detail. Experience in higher education and fund
accounting preferred. Experience using SAP, Banner, and QuickBooks
is preferred. Able to read, write, and comprehend English; able to
follow verbal instructions. Experience with Word, Excel, Teams
