computer technology and using radioactive medicine to treat
disease. The Nuclear Medicine Technologist is a highly specialized
professional who works closely with the nuclear medicine physician,
which involves the following: preparing and administering
radioactive chemical compounds, performing patient-imaging
procedures using sophisticated radiation-detecting instruments,
accomplishing computer processing and image enhancement; also
analyzing biologic specimens in the laboratory, as well as
providing images, data analysis, and patient information to the
physician for diagnostic interpretation as well as assisting in
developing an appropriate care plan for each patient.
