We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Assistant Cook to join our team at McGraw House In Ithaca. The Assistant Cook will support the Head Cook in meal preparation, kitchen cleanliness, and ensuring that residents receive nutritious and delicious meals in a safe and welcoming environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist in preparing and cooking meals according to planned menus and dietary needs of senior residents.


Follow food safety and sanitation guidelines to maintain a clean and organized kitchen.


Help with food prep tasks such as chopping vegetables, portioning ingredients, and assembling meals.


Serve meals to residents in a friendly and respectful manner.


Ensure proper food storage and labeling to minimize waste.


Clean kitchen equipment, dishes, and work areas after food preparation and meal service.


Assist in receiving, stocking, and organizing food supplies and inventory.


Follow all health and safety regulations and report any kitchen hazards or issues to the Head Cook or management.


Support special dietary requests and restrictions as needed.



Qualifications & Skills:

Previous experience in a kitchen or food service environment preferred.


Knowledge of basic cooking techniques and food handling safety.


Ability to follow recipes and meal plans.


Strong teamwork and communication skills.


Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 30 lbs.


Compassionate and respectful attitude toward senior residents.



Hours Needed:

The position is part-time at 20-25 hours per week. Normal Shifts: Monday through Fridays from 2:00pm - 7:00pm.
