Description:This is a dynamic position responsible for the
productivity of the Glue department as well as overseeing that
quality procedures are carried out throughout on a regular basis.
The Glue Press Lead is accountable for ensuring that production
scheduled for completion is executed in a timely manner and all
quality standards and procedures are followed. The position will
have indirect oversight over team members carrying out tasks within
the position's scope as well as participating in the hourly
development and performance management processes at the discretion
of the supervisor. It is essential that this position communicates
company strategies and objectives to team members including safety,
quality, productivity and output and provides support to management
in the areas of team member training and coaching.Major Duties And
ResponsibilitiesGlue Press LeadLeads the glue table operation and
quality within these areas to support manufacturing and daily
production goals maintaining a rate of 850 feet of product produced
per hour. Adjust glue press settings based on the species and
product thickness while communicating with the Glue Rip Operator to
coordinate press cycles as well as production issues to the glue
spreader.Ensure the safety and productivity of all employees within
designated areas as well as enforcing quality procedures.Ensure
documentation is completed including daily completion of pre-shift,
end of shift, and quality checklists for each designated area.
Create and update quality checklists as appropriateAudits the glue
department daily to ensure adhesion to company safety policies and
housekeeping requirements and addresses concerns with
Management.Ensure non-stop operation in partnership with various
department leads to deliver the correct product in sufficient
quantities aligning with quality procedures.Conducts equipment
set-up, basic maintenance and troubleshooting as neededProvides
training and coaching to the operators in assigned areas as
directed Effective communication between management and operators.
Listens to operator feedback and escalates concerns to
managementIdentifies and fulfills training needs, knowledge-gaps,
and areas for continuous improvementMaintains regular and reliable
attendanceOther duties as assigned Requirements:Education &
ExperienceHigh school diploma or equivalent required1-2 years'
experience in manufacturing, warehouse, or operations (Team
Lead)Demonstrated leadership skills or a strong desire to pursue a
leadership career pathKnowledge, Skills, & AbilitiesDemonstrate an
understanding of basic woodworking Ability to perform LOTO and use
proficiently use tools such as micrometer, tape measure, go/no-go
gauge, and wet-mil gauge moisture meter.Thorough understanding of
applicable quality control processes and proceduresIntimate
operating knowledge of all available processing equipment within
scopeAbility to identify process failures when they happen and
coach the team through problem solvingAbility to interpret and
execute various technical procedures in verbal, written,
mathematical or diagrammatical formAbility to work in a team
environment and motivate others to meet demands established by the
scheduleBasic knowledge of OSHA safety practicesPossesses excellent
oral and written communication skillsPossesses excellent
