Job Description:
A major medical leader in healthcare practice management
solutions has a need for a Healthcare Data Analyst. This is an
onsite, full-time position located in Richmond Hill,
NY.Overview/Position SummaryThis individual works in close
collaboration with the Anesthesia leadership team, and under the
direction of the Chairperson. They will be responsible for
managing, analyzing, and interpreting large datasets within the
department to help improve patient care, optimize anesthesia
services, and support improvement initiatives. The position
requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the
ability to efficiently collaborate with physicians, nurses, and
other healthcare professionals.The key components/processes of the
programs to be managed by the Data Analyst are:
- Analyze large datasets to identify trends, patterns, and areas
for improvement in anesthesia practices, adhering to AQI data
standards.
- Extract clinical data from existing information systems (e.g.
Epic), while ensuring data integrity, accuracy, and completeness
across multiple datasets.
- Identification of patients who meet pre-defined criteria for
further review by the Anesthesia leadership.
- Develop new methodologies to track new relevant clinical data
(e.g. matching cases with outcomes data in order to support
continuous improvement of care delivered).
- Develop clinical performance reports and reporting platforms to
increase transparency and information flow among providers.
- Have high analytical ability to solve complex problems and be a
self-starter, able to work independently with staff.
- Generate routine and ad hoc reports, visualizations, and
dashboards to present data findings to department leadership,
physicians, and other stakeholders.Essential Functions of the
Position/Responsibilities:
- Creates and maintains project management tools to ensure
timeliness and maintains database.
- Coordinates program activities to ensure smooth operations of
the AQI program, including maintaining AQI data portal.
- Works closely with team members to keep AQI projects on
schedule.
- Maintains a library of clinical guidelines/protocols, as well
as records of quality improvement activities.
- Participates in strategic planning to support overall
goals.
- Assists with the preparation of reports and data for
Anesthesia-related meeting and reporting as directed by the
Chairperson and/or department leadership.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and clinical
benchmarks to assess the effectiveness of anesthesia services.
- Submits data to the Anesthesia Quality Institute Program.
- Stay up-to-date with advancements in data analytics techniques
and tools, and implement innovative approaches where
appropriate.
- Other tasks and duties as assigned.Required Skills
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in healthcare data analysis
or a related field with experience in anesthesiology or clinical
settings, as a plus.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize,
analyze, interpret and visualize data from multiple sources with
attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to be independent, take initiative, meet deadlines,
problem solve, organize, interpret, and present information.
- Experience with EHR systems, specifically EPIC.
- Familiarity with data analysis tools (e.g., SQL, R, Python,
Tableau).
- Proficiency in use of the MS Office Suite (Word, Excel,
Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Must be able to communicate well both verbally and in writing
and able to effectively prepare and distribute items as
requested/needed.
- Excellent writing, reporting and communications skills.
- Must be a motivated individual with a positive mindset and
exceptional work ethic.Qualifications
- Has achieved a bachelor's degree or higher.
